THING’S YOU SHOULD KNOW...

... If you are coming to toronto for the first time: Like many cities, TORONTO has by- laws regarding smoking in public places. Smoking is not permitted in restaurants and bars, but is permitted in outdoor spaces such as decks and patios. The Black Eagle has a spacious upstairs patio for smokers, which is heated during the winter months.

Toronto has numerous gay publications that can help you with your shopping, sightseeing, what’s on and finding that “special destination” (Steam bath etc). Most of the gay businesses in the village will have copies of these publications, all of which are free.

Licenced businesses may operate from 11:00am to 2:00 am, but not all open that early. Liquor service stops at 2:00am and customers are given until 2:45am to finish their drinks. All drinks (including non- alcoholic ) must be consumed by 2:45am.

The Toronto Transit Commission runs major routes in the city 24hours a day. If you are traveling on the subway, it does close overnight and each station has a different time when the last train leaves. If you are going to be out late (early??) you may want to check  for train times or the times of the alternative surface routes as  there are all-night bus service corresponding to each subway line.
